Day 1: Arrival in Valletta

Our journey began in Valletta, Malta's capital city and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stepping into Valletta felt like walking through an open-air museum. The city is a treasure trove of Baroque architecture, with narrow streets that lead to grand squares and charming cafes. Our first stop was St. John’s Co-Cathedral, a masterpiece of Baroque art and architecture. The ornate interior, adorned with intricate carvings and gilded details, left us in awe.
Dinner with a View
As the sun set, we made our way to Upper Barrakka Gardens, which offers panoramic views of the Grand Harbour. The sight of the harbor bathed in golden hues was the perfect backdrop for our first dinner in Malta. We dined at a rooftop restaurant, savoring local dishes like rabbit stew and fresh seafood, accompanied by Maltese wine.

The next day, we ventured across the harbor to the Three Cities: Vittoriosa (Birgu), Senglea (Isla), and Cospicua (Bormla). These fortified cities predate Valletta and are steeped in history. We wandered through the narrow streets of Birgu, visiting the Inquisitor’s Palace and Fort St. Angelo. The cities' rich maritime history was evident at every turn, and we felt transported back in time.
The Charm of Marsaxlokk
In the afternoon, we headed to Marsaxlokk, a picturesque fishing village known for its colorful boats called "luzzus." The vibrant market along the waterfront offered an array of fresh fish, local produce, and handcrafted souvenirs. We enjoyed a leisurely seafood lunch, watching the boats bobbing gently in the harbor.
Day 3: Gozo and Comino
A Day in Gozo
No trip to Malta is complete without a visit to its sister island, Gozo. We took a ferry to Gozo early in the morning and were immediately struck by its more rural and relaxed atmosphere. Our first stop was the Ġgantija Temples, one of the oldest free-standing structures in the world. The ancient megalithic complex provided a fascinating glimpse into Malta’s prehistoric past.
Blue Waters of Comino

Day 4: Mdina and Rabat

Our fourth day took us to Mdina, the ancient capital of Malta, also known as the Silent City. Perched atop a hill, Mdina's narrow, winding streets and medieval architecture exude an old-world charm. We visited St. Paul's Cathedral and enjoyed breathtaking views of the island from the city walls.
Discovering Rabat
Adjacent to Mdina is Rabat, home to several important historical sites. We explored the catacombs of St. Paul and St. Agatha, a labyrinth of underground burial chambers. The Domus Romana, with its well-preserved Roman mosaics, provided further insight into Malta’s rich history.
Day 5: Beaches and Relaxation
Sun and Sand
Our final day was dedicated to relaxation. We headed to the northern part of the island to enjoy some of Malta’s best beaches. Golden Bay and Mellieħa Bay offered golden sands and clear waters, perfect for a leisurely day by the sea. We rented a kayak and explored the nearby coastline, discovering hidden caves and secluded spots.
Farewell Dinner
For our farewell dinner, we chose a seaside restaurant in St. Julian’s. We indulged in traditional Maltese dishes such as pastizzi (flaky pastries filled with ricotta or peas) and lampuki pie (fish pie). As we reflected on our incredible journey, we were grateful for the warm hospitality, rich history, and stunning landscapes that Malta had offered us.
